Exploring Brand Equity
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A BLOG POST FROM MY OLD ARCHIVED BLOG THAT I WROTE AS AN ASSIGNMENT FOR AN ADVERTISING CLASS ~ SPRING 2019
When thinking about a larger brand that is relevant to my demographic, the first brand that I thought about was Hydro Flask. So many people in my age group have one. I see so many people, including myself, that own these bottles around campus as well. The company has made a name for itself and marketing the fact that the bottle they sell keep liquids cold for up to 24 hours and hot for up to 6 hours.
I personally have rarely seen advertisements for Hydro Flask, yet it’s such a big name. As a matter of fact, I do not remember how I personally learned about the product. After researching advertisements I found a video from their YouTube channel that introduces their product and shows what they like to promote.
The video highlights all of the great things about the product. The video gives the company a way to “flex” how great the product is. And based on my personal opinion, the product is pretty great. The video touches on so many different features such as how it keeps the contents icy cold for up to 24 hours and up to 6 hours staying hot. They are made up of durable stainless steel and easy to carry. The video also shows that the bottles can be used in a variety of settings whether it be snow, the beach, the forest, or just at the office. They also show their different products as well. They don’t just show the main bottle that they sell. They also show some of their different products like the different types of tumblers and thermoses they sell.
The video also tells a story to the viewer. Actually, it tells multiple stories, but does not give a full background or anything to fully understand the story or even end the story. All you know is that all of these different people are out and adventuring and having an amazing time in all these different, beautiful places, but they all have one thing in common. A Hydro Flask.
