Transportation Solutions (TS) helps alleviate automobile traffic to SJSU and reduce the impact on the University’s parking facilities.


Role: Social Media & Communications Student Assistant

  • Content Planning


Goal

As the first person to hold the position of Social Media & Communications Student Assistant for this office, the main goal was to set a foundation for the next students to hold this position. Before the creation of the position, there was no designated person managing the social media account nor was there a consistent posting schedule.

The initial goal was to increase the awareness and engagement of the social media page and also to set a regular and consistent posting schedule and method.


Approach

Through preplanning ideas for content weeks in advance, we were able to have a consistent posting schedule.

  • Graphics were fun and bright and conveyed information that would be helpful and needed by the target audience (San Jose State University Students and staff).

  • Introduced new content

    • Instagram Reels

    • Meet the Team Spotlights

    • Trip Plan Graphics

  • Introduced a Google Spreadsheet shared with the entire team to collaborate on ideas for upcoming content and copy

  • Had a separate Google Spreadsheet where insights were tracked on a weekly basis


Results


Through introducing the new content and practices during the fall semester of my employement, the TS page saw a 13% increase in followers and a steady increase in engagement.

Additionally, a foundation was set for the next students to hold the position and they are well equipped with resources and templates to preplan and schedule content.
